Marine Transport Services STEEL ISLE operating the INS Ferry Service on July 25, 2003
Steel Isle is seen here arriving at Cóbh and departing with a heavy load of INS staff.

On July 24, the Irish Naval Service's passenger ferry DAVID F was taken out of service for maintenance. Marine Transport Services passenger vessel STEEL ISLE took over the service. This vessel now normally used for public cruises around Cork Harbour and the Naval Base. She also operated commuter service to the Irish Steel plant on Haulbowline Island - hence her name "Steel Isle". However, this service ended with the closure of the works.
