Lagan Viking - Ins and Outs

Photographs © Mark Ervine 2006

"My overall impression of her, as the new LAGAN VIKING, sadly falls short. On the two crossings, I was able to assemble a list, were the negatives over-shadowed the positives. She seems to have a very unusual lay-out inside, not helped by all the mirrors, which make her feel like a house of mirrors, rather than a ferry. In the cabins the upper bunks fold away if there is only 2 people, but ask for a family cabin and all you get is the usual 4 beds, with a cot thrown in. Whereas the Dublin and Liverpool Viking's have 5 family cabins onboard where large families can be accommodated comfortably. LAGAN VIKING also suffers from terrible vibrations in the cinema/reception area. This turns the Pullman Lounge from a quiet place for sleep into a place for a rather loud massage in a vibrating chair! However, there is a small beam of light at the end of her tunnel. There is much more seating than on DUBLIN & LIVERPOOL VIKINGS. I found her a disappointment in comparison. The older ships have more outer deck space, a simpler layout and lack the vibrations making the more comfortable.
