Tamar Class - Prototype Lifeboat

Photographs © Chris Allman 2005

Photographs of the Prototype Lifeboat of the new Tamar Class at the Lifeboat College taken by Chris Allman of the New Brighton Lifeboat.

The Tamar class features a drops down stern and the lifting  poop deck. There is an X or Y craft stored in the space under the poop deck which can then be launched through the stern.

On board equipment is state of the art. The vessel has  an amidships a cutaway which allows for the rescue of persons in the water, this can covered over by a removable walkway.

There was talk of quite a lot changes to the prototype and it may well be that these changes now feature on the pre-production model currently on route to Tenby. It may even be the prototype with the changes incorporated.
