On Saturday October 14, 2006 the
former Smit Transport salvage ship JACOMINA had returned to the
sunken George's Landing Stage. Engineers from Mammoet could be seen
on dock and a diver entered the water. Air hoses lead under the
water to where the sunken northern end of the stage lies.
Smit Transport sold the JACOMINA
to Bufalorent S.L. of Cartagena, Spain in 2005 according to a report
in the Maritime Clippings Electronic Newsletter she was expected to
operate on marine construction projects, fish farms and salvage
contracts in the Mediteranean, Portugal and Canary Islands. She has
obviously wandered quite a way from her intended area of operation! |
