The New Fleetwood - Knott End Ferry Debuts

Photographs © Dick Clague 2005

Two photographs of the new Fleetwood to Knott End Ferry which will enter service on the River Wyre in Lancashire.

The exterior shot shows her bow - she only has one boarding ramp which is on the port side and shown extended. The end of it is flexible onto the sloping slipway for wheelchair access.  Seating is plain benches. She has two engines which power water jets. Though not visible in the photograph (right) she does have conventional wheel steering. The vessel will be operated by Wyre Waste Management and carries 35 passengers. Unlike the previous vessel, HARVESTER she is able to operate through out the year. As yet she has no name and a competition is in progress to choose one. She is due to enter service on September 30.
