Deutschland Visits Cóbh

Photographs © John H. Luxton 2006

Peter Deilman's DEUTSCHLAND is seen arriving at Cóbh Terminal on  the beautiful morning of May 31, 2006. In the picture top left the Port of Cork Pilot Vessel SONIA can be seen returning to base after putting the pilot on board, whilst visible in the back ground having just passed Roche's Point, is the DEUTSCHLAND. After taking a few photographs near the Port Control I drove down to the cruise terminal to take further photographs.
DEUTSCHLAND departed promptly at 19:30 with three long blasts on her whistle - though only a modestly sized ship DEUTSCHLAND certainly has an impressive whistle. Her departure from Cóbh Cruise Terminal coincided with the departure of Irish Naval Service's tender DAVID F from the Navy Pier further whilst blowing followed as "little and large" exchanged several whistle blasts!
