U534 - Moving The Bow

Photographs © John H. Luxton 2008

MERSEY MAMMOTH moved the final section of U534 on the afternoon of Saturday March 15, 2008. By the time the bow section had reached Woodside quite a crowd had gathered to watch the final section being lifted ashore. The views also show the other parts of the boat. These are still standing on frames prior to their lowering into their final position which will see them sitting lower than they appear in these views. The precision nature of the cutting is clearly apparent with even vertical pipes being neatly cut. Two pigeons also appear to have found one of the sections a cosy birth as can be seen in one of the photographs.
